Air passes into the lungs through the trachea (wind pipe), which splits into two bronchi. The bronchi then further divide into bronchioles, which continue to divide and decrease in diameter. This is the site of gaseous exchange; oxygen enters the capillaries and carbon dioxide leaves.</p>
