<p>AIDS quilt is a memorial to and celebration of the lives of people lost to the AIDS pandemic. The Quilt was displayed on the Washington, D.C. Mall in October 1987. Again in October 1996, it was displayed in its entirety with 1,000 blocks. Since then additional blocks have been added.</p>
