At the beginning of the 17th century, the Baroque style was born in Europe. The Baroque emphasized movement, detail, and grandeur. It was a departure from the Renaissance reverence of classical antiquity. By the 1730's, the Baroque had developed into an even more ostentatious style called Rococo.
