Granulocytes are leukocytes with granules in their cytoplasm that contain destructive chemicals. Neutrophils are involved in inflammation and other immune responses. They assist in cellular defence (phagocytosis) of pathogenic microorganisms. A neutrophil destroys an antigen by engulfing it and injecting lethal chemicals.
