Deoxygenated blood (blue) drains from the head through the jugular veins (largest neck arteries), and arms through the subclavian veins (under clavicle bones), into the vena cava vein (at left side of heart). The heart pumps oxygenated blood (red) into the aortic arch (above heart) and upwards to the carotid arteries of the neck (behind jugular veins). Other, smaller, blood vessels are also shown.
