Early electric train

Item # 1411954

Sheila Terry

Early electric train. Historical artwork of an early electric train used in Connecticut, USA. This train, running from New Haven to Hartford, is using a third rail, between the other two, to obtain power. This railroad is part of the New York-New Haven-Hartford Railroad, which from 1895 pioneered the electrification of railroads by using this third rail, instead of the overhead wires seen in tram systems. Artwork from A Travers l'Electricite (G. Dary, Paris, 1900).
