Sheila Terry

<p>Apollonius of Perga (c.262 BC-c.190 BC), Greek mathematician and astronomer, demonstrating his mathematical theories in Egypt. Apollonius (lower right), was born in Perga, Asia Minor (now Turkey), but as a young man he moved to Alexandria, Egypt, where the leading scholars of the time studied. He remained in Alexandria, studying and teaching, and eventually died there.
