About Wild Horses
Some of the best known wild horses are found on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where wild mustangs roam freely, grazing lazily or frisking enthusiastically with manes flying. Other well-known herds include Georgia’s Cumberland Island horses and the Chincoteague ponies of Assateague Island in Maryland and Virginia. Many more horses live in the American Southwest on vast public lands. Whether galloping in the surf, crossing the prairie at sunset or striking an aristocratic pose, wild horses make for beautiful and totally relatable art.
