About Bob Brown
British painter Robert “Bob” Brown was a dedicated landscape artist and longtime member of the New English Art Club. After studying at Croydon College of Art, Brown developed a distinctive approach to painting that emphasized the vitality of everyday surroundings, often working directly from observation with a portable oil-painting setup. His work focuses on buildings, architectural facades, boats, people, trees, water, and expansive skies, with particular attention to the way changing sunlight transforms color, pattern, and shadow. Brown traveled extensively, painting in locations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States, bringing an energetic, observational quality to his landscapes and scenes.
