Steam-powered coach, historical artwork. This coach, known as the Gurney Drag, was a horseless stage coach towed by a carriage with a boiler at the back for producing high pressure steam. It was built by Goldsworthy Gurney (1793-1875) in England in the late 1820s. This engraving shows ladies and gentlemen, including the First Duke of Wellington, aboard the Gurney Drag on 12th August 1829. Artwork from Histoire de la Locomotion Terrestre (Paris, 1936)
