The Lusitania was a British ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line. It sailed between Liverpool, UK, and New York from September 1907. On the 7th May 1915 the Lusitania was torpedoed by a German U-boat off the south-east coast of Ireland. It sank within 18 minutes, killing 1,198 of the 1,959 people on board.</p>
