<p>Sara Everett is a Seattle-based visual artist whose sculptural paintings enact a material metaphor for ecological fragility and resilience. Her process begins with conventional painted surfaces that she intentionally tears, cuts, and disrupts before meticulously hand-stitching them back together—making the act of mending an integral part of the work’s form and meaning. This interplay of destruction and repair resonates as a visual poetics of vulnerability, where the visible sutures become icons for species and landscapes “barely hanging on by a thread.” Her layered compositions evoke both the physicality of natural systems and the emotional weight of environmental loss, inviting viewers into contemplative engagement with pattern, texture, and repair.</p>
