Old Roman Aqueduct At Entrance To Segovia

<p>Open Plumbing 1,900 years old - excellent photo of the magnificent aqueduct at Segovia, Spain, built by the first Roman emperor, Augustus...Photo shows a view of the city entrance here, with the old Roman Aqueduct built during the reign of Emperor Augustus (27 B.C. to 14 A.D.). The water was conducted on it from a basin on the mountains east of Segovia over the deep valley to the upper part of the city. It is 2,683 feet long and its greatest height is 92 feet - when it crosses the entrance to the city. The structure is the largest fully-preserved monument of Roman colonization in Spain.</p>
