<p>Mike Jacobs inspects Joe Louis' fist before the heavy weight champion would defend his title against Lou Nova on Sept. 29, 1941. In 1935 Jacobs worked to overcome informal barriers that kept African American boxers out of big title fights. Two years later, Louis won the World Championship against James Braddock on June 22, 1937.</p>
