<p>Lisa Kesler is a painter, printmaker, and designer with a full-time studio practice rooted in central Illinois. Her creative process is fueled by experimentation and intuition. In her abstract paintings, she begins with little more than a blank canvas and a size in mind, allowing each composition to evolve through color, mark-making, and surface texture. Her linocut prints, by contrast, feature strong silhouettes and organic textures, often inspired by plants, insects, and birds—subjects that lend themselves well to the physicality of carving and printing. A constant thread throughout Lisa's work is a fascination with pattern, rhythm, and surface. These elements often overlap across media, and in recent years, she has blended practices by layering hand-carved linocuts onto painted surfaces, creating mixed-media works with a rich, tactile presence.</p>
