1926 Singer Doriane intrigues us with the mystery of her dark eyes. A rare work by Gesmar for a relatively obscure performer: the singer Doriane (Paule Dorian). Gesmar dazzles us with the opulence of her costume and the strands of pearls, intrigues us with the mystery of her dark eyes and places her against a black background which gives her a spotlit look. Although the poster is undated, the bobbed hair, which became popular in 1926, pinpoints it fairly accurately. Doriane was appearing that season and the next at La Cigale; this was probably the high point of her career, which seems to have started at La Mesange in the early 1920s and ended toward the end of the decade at L'Olympia.
