Hamner, the graphic pseudonym of portrait painter Herman Richir, produced many posters, a great deal of them created for the Brussels firm of Delhaize Freres. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts at Saint-Josse-ten-Noode in Brussels, and later taught at the Brussels Fine Arts Academy, also serving as the schools director.</p>
