Jeff Dai's images of the night sky over the wilderness of China and the Himalayas spectacularly show the immensity of the stars and galaxy that surrounds us.

When the evening twilight was fading to darkness above Tibet, this panoramic image captured the starry sky above Laigu Glacier at the roof of the world. The central bulge of the Milky Way galaxy in the constellations Scorpius shine brightly against the waxing crescent moon in the middle. The pale red cast near the horizon on the left is airglow. The fading twilight appear just above the Laigu Glacier on the right. Laigu Glacier is a joint name of a group of glaciers located in Qamdo Prefecture, Tibet. It is one of the three largest glaciers in the world.
