Osan, South Korea: About 750 men of the 1st Brigade, 82nd U.S. Airborne Division drooped from 14 6141 Starlifters into this area, some 30 miles south of Seoul to the rescue of South Korea under invasion from the North after flying 8,000 miles from their home base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This was not real war but a joint U.S.-South Korea exercise called Freedom Vault designed to demonstrate the capability of deploying U.S. forces from continental America to Asia to help its allies in emergencies. The war game continued through Saturday.</p>
