Romanticism
About Romanticism
The Romanticist period was embodied by an emphasis on emotion, imagination, and the glorification of nature. The artists of this late 18th and early 19th century art movement understood the importance of expanding the artistic practice beyond reason and order in an effort to better understand and experience the world. This collection of art also includes work from the Hudson River School, a mid 19th century American art movement that was heavily influenced by the earlier Romanticists. This group of landscape painters typically depicted the Hudson River Valley, the Catskills, and the Adirondacks in their work.
