Many of our competitors are using composite or lower-grade wood products that bend, warp, or crack over time due to changes in humidity. And when the wood fails, your wall art becomes a wavy, rippled mess in a matter of months.
Solid wood stretcher bars keep canvas taut and flat for years to come. Good quality solid wood naturally expands and contracts evenly with changes in the environment. This even tension across the canvas print will prevent the sagging corners and rippled effect that occur with substandard stretcher bars.

Artist-Grade Polycotton Canvas Material

Great Big Canvas's answer to this challenge is artist-grade polycotton blend. 100% cotton feels and looks beautiful, but is hygroscopic (reactive to humidity) and subject to sagging. 100% polyester, on the other hand, is very dimensionally stable, but can have a "plastic" look. This blend shows the beautiful "tooth" of cotton with the dimensional support of polyester's structural scaffolding. The print will remain warp and sag-resistant for decades to come.
The term "artist-grade" also refers to a special, acid-free coating. This receptor surface grabs minuscule droplets of ink with almost surgical accuracy. The coating not only prevents bleeding, but it also preserves vibrant details. It's pH-neutral, so the canvas won't become brittle or yellow with time. On every stretched canvas print, we add sawtooth hangers. These sturdy metal hangers fasten to the back of the wooden stretcher bars, creating a mounting system that is simple to use, that cannot fail under the weight of your canvas print, and that allows the canvas to sit flat against the wall while remaining easy to level and adjust.
