<p>Dr. Valerie Andre, in front of her helicopter in Tonkin, Vietnam, in 1952. She served in the French army as a neurosurgeon, and learned to fly helicopters to reach wounded soldiers. From 1952-53, she rescued 165 soldiers and parachuted to treat wounded needing immediate surgery. In 1976 she became the first Women to reach the rank of General Officer in the French Army.</p>
