<p>Map of the Moon. Published in 1872, this lunar map uses the work of the German astronomers Wilhelm Beer (1797-1850) and Johann Heinrich Maedler (1794-1874). Their maps and descriptions of the Moon in the 1830s would be the most detailed and accurate for decades.</p>
