# Great Big Canvas

> Great Big Canvas sells made-to-order wall art from a catalog of roughly 350,000 pieces of artwork and photography. The customer chooses a piece of art first, then the size and finish it is printed in.

The catalog is the product. Nearly every piece is available in every size and finish, so the question worth answering for a customer is almost always "which artwork," not "which product." Each artwork has a detail page at `/view/{slug},{id}/` carrying its current sizes, finishes, and prices.

## Finding artwork

Search is the best way to locate art, and it accepts natural language:

`https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/search/?q=<url-encoded phrase>`

Descriptive phrases work well: `?q=misty+mountain+lake+at+sunrise` returns matching art. A single broad term redirects to the canonical category page for that term, which is the better landing page for browsing.

The `q` parameter is required; `/search/` on its own redirects to the home page.

- [All art](https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/category/all/): The whole catalog as a browsable, filterable listing.
- [Sitemap index](https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/sitemaps/sitemap.xml.gz): Every indexable page, art detail pages and category pages, regenerated daily across seven gzipped child sitemaps. This is the complete and authoritative list of what is available.

## Browsing

Browse pages live under `/category/{path}/` and can be narrowed by facets. These are entry points into that taxonomy:
