About Pierre Auguste Renoir
Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was a French painter who was a central figure of the Impressionist movement. His early works featured scenes of real life that were warm, engaging, colorful, and filled with light. Then, his later works moved on to more formal-style portraits, often depicting women. Renoir was a very passionate and dedicated painter, even to the point of having to tie his paintbrush to his wrist in old age because he was suffering from severe arthritis.
