{{ titlePrefix }} David Owen Hastings
David Owen Hastings was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, where he grew up with creative siblings and parents who valued artistic expression. David creates monotype prints, which allow the artist to create spontaneous images and source material that he often takes further with collage. A monotype is a painting on an un-etched printing surface that is transferred to paper by hand or by a press. Color is a very important factor in his work, and he strives for richness and depth, which is why he loves collaging printed pieces with handmade papers, fabrics, bits of text, and translucent materials such as ribbon and vellum.
