<p>The Sinking of HMS Dasher -- The Ship That Shouldn't Have Been Sunk. A converted American vessel, the compliment of aircraft on the Dasher were being refuelled when an explosion (blamed on the ignition of petrol fumes from a leaky valve) holed the hull and she sank to the bottom of the Ardrossan. Original artwork from Look and Learn no. 715, 27 September 1975.</p>
