Mappa Mundi by La Cosa in 1500. This map, the first to show America, was created in 1500 by the Spanish sailor Juan de La Cosa. He owned the Santa Maria, the ship used by Christopher Columbus in his exploration of America, and accompanied Columbus on his first two voyages. The original is held in the Museo Naval, Madrid, Spain. Taken from A Book of Discovery, by M.B.Synge, 1912.
