<p>John Heisman in his University of Pennsylvania football uniform, c. 1891. He played football at Brown Univ. 1887-89, and at the Univ. of Pennsylvania 1890-91. After graduating from the Univ. of Pennsylvania Law School in 1892, he began his coaching career at Oberlin College. The Heisman Memorial Trophy, is awarded each year to the most outstanding collegiate football player.</p>
