New Orleans ranks as one of the top ten most visited cities in the United States. With major attractions such as Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, St. Charles Avenue, Magazine Street and Saint Louis Cemetery it is easy to see why visitors flock to this historical city. In 2005, New Orleans was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina, however the city continues to recover and rebuild.
Due to soft soils and construction concerns, for many years the New Orleans skyline only consisted of low and mid-rise buildings. However after the building of the Plaza Tower and World Trade Center New Orleans in the 1960s it was determined that high-rise buildings would be able to withstand soil concerns. Today nine of the tallest buildings in Louisiana are found in New Orleans, two of the tallest being the One Shell Square and the Place St. Charles.
