A major tourist destination both for domestic and overseas visitors, London is most popular for places such as Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace and of course Big Ben. But did you know that London also has one of the most loved skylines in the world?
London's skyline is rich in history, dating all the way back to 1098, with the completion of the 90-foot White Tower, a part of the Tower of London. Old St. Paul's Cathedral was one of the tallest buildings in the world until the Great Fire of London destroyed it in 1666.
For many years height restrictions had been placed skyscrapers in London to help protect the views of historical places such as St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London and Westminster Palace. However in the 1960s restrictions were lifted and since then many new buildings have appeared in London's skyline. As of June 2008, there are 1,384 completed high-rises in the city. There are currently 426 high-rise buildings either under construction or approved for construction in the near future.
With the ever-changing London skyline why not preserve a piece of history with over 200 gallery wrapped prints from Great Big Canvas.
